The Liver of Piacenza is a bronze sculpture dating back to the 2nd Century BC or the 3rd Century BC found at the Piacenza Archaeological Museum in Italy. It is also known as the bronze 'liver model' or 'bronze liver' and features a detailed depiction of the liver and its surrounding area, with inscriptions on it. The liver was an important organ in Etruscan religion, and the Liver of Piacenza was used for divination, where priests would examine the liver to predict the future. The inscriptions on the liver relate to the various gods associated with each of the 16 different regions, and their influence on the organs of the liver. The Liver of Piacenza is considered to be one of the most important surviving Etruscan artifacts and provides important insight into the religious beliefs and practices of this ancient civilization.
